Friday Fun Facts – May 13th

On Friday, May 13, school is closed. The building is being sanitized for our safe return on Monday.

On Friday evening, there will be a Track Meet at JFK High School at 6:00PM.

This week our students in grades 3 through 8 will be finishing up their MAP Assessment that they started last week. Our children in grades 1 and 2 will begin their two-day test of Mathematics and Language Arts. Results of the test will go home with the children at the end of the school year.

This coming week is extremely busy! On Tuesday, May 17, our second graders will be Crowning our Blessed Mother. At 9:15, we will begin with a Prayer Service in the gym and then proceed outside to the statue of Mary in the front of the Church of the Sacred Heart. Our second graders will be the main participants in the Prayer Service and the Crowning of Mary. After the Crowning, our second graders will have special treats in their classroom to celebrate their First Holy Communion and May Crowning. All are invited to attend this beautiful event.

On Wednesday, May 18, our eighth graders will be going on their class trip. They will be picked up at school in the morning in a special Party Bus and taken to a Cruise Boat on the Hudson for their sail up the Hudson. While on the boat cruising, there will be music, dancing, lunch, viewing the New York/New Jersey skyline and much fun. They will be joined by some of the faculty and eighth grade parents.

Our Art Show will be on Thursday, May 19. During the day, our students will be able to view all of the beautiful Art displays as well as a special presentation of our Minecraft Club. In the evening, the Art Show will be open to the public from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. In addition to the Art display, several of our students will be demonstrating their musical talent and be playing music during the show.

On Friday, we had originally planned an Alumni Night, but that has been cancelled due to response. We invite our alumni to join us at the Thursday’s Art Show and Saturday’s Open House.

Friday is also the end of MAP Testing.

On Saturday, we will have an Open House from 10:00AM until 2:00PM. We will welcome visitors to tour the school, visit the classrooms, see the Art Displays, and meet with faculty and staff. Please let friends and family know that we will be having this Open House. If they are unavailable on Saturday, please have them call the school office, 908-822-5890, to arrange a private tour.

This week’s Calendar Raffle winner is Darlene M., ticket number #816, winning $50.00 prize. Congratulations!

As you may recall, we are participating in South Plainfield Board of Education “Day of Giving.” On that day our students will be coming to school dressed in their Rise Up and Run Movin’ to the Beat tee shirts and there will be a fee of dressing down; we ask that you contribute $1.00 to $5.00. On that day we will be walking and cleaning/decorating the grounds around the school. The night before there will be a Softball game between teachers throughout the town and First Responders (police/firefighters). Tickets for that event will be going on sale this Monday, May 16, in the school office. The price is $3.00 for children and seniors, and $5.00 for adults. If you wish to purchase tickets for the game, send your request to Mrs. Haluszka in the school office. Please remember that Ms. Lloyd, Ms. Rennie, Mrs. Golembieski, and Mr. Mazzarese will be playing for Holy Savior Academy.

Have a wonderful weekend! May God continue to bless each of you and your family.

Mrs. Woodburn
